| A vessel restricted in ability to maneuver AND anchored is STILL restricted in her ability to maneuver, due to the nature of her work. In other words, she's still working and restricted in ability to maneuver, thus, Rule 35 (d) Rule 35 (d) states: (d) A vessel engaged in fishing, when at anchor, and a vessel restricted in her ability to maneuver when carrying out her work at anchor, shall instead of the signals prescribed in Rule 35(g) sound the signal prescribed in Rule 35(c). Rule 35 (c) states: (c) A vessel not under command, a vessel restricted in her ability to maneuver, a vessel constrained by her draft, a sailing vessel, a vessel engaged in fishing and a vessel engaged in towing or pushing another vessel shall, instead of the signals prescribed in Rule 35(a) or (b), sound at intervals of not more than 2 minutes three blasts in succession, namely one prolonged followed by two short blasts. |

| Dammit! Rule 35 (g) states: (g) A vessel at anchor shall at intervals of not more than 1 minute ring the bell rapidly for about 5 seconds. There was no indication that the vessel was carrying out her work! This is bullish*t! |

| Rule 35 (c) states: (c) A vessel not under command, a vessel restricted in her ability to maneuver, a vessel constrained by her draft, a sailing vessel, a vessel engaged in fishing and a vessel engaged in towing or pushing another vessel shall, instead of the signals prescribed in Rule 35(a) or (b), sound at intervals of not more than 2 minutes three blasts in succession, namely one prolonged followed by two short blasts. However, Rule 35 (d) states: (d) A vessel engaged in fishing, when at anchor, and a vessel restricted in her ability to maneuver when carrying out her work at anchor, shall instead of the signals prescribed in Rule 35(g) sound the signal prescribed in Rule 35(c). So, if the vessel in this question is "carrying out her work" then she should sound one prolonged blast followed by two short blasts. If she's not carrying out her work, then she's just at anchor at anchor and should sound the five seconds of ringing her bell every minute. I'm going to answer that she's ringing her bell, since there's no mention that this vessel is working. I hope my answer's right! |

| Charly is correct. RAM and Fishing are the exception to the typical Anchor signals rule as long as they are carrying out their work. They, regardless of whether they are underway or anchored, sound one prolong and two short no matter what. |
