I didnt hate the Switch when I reviewed it last year, but after spending an entire day hunting it dunk panda down in stores I could easily say it wasnt exceptional enough to warrant camping out or paying Craigslist scalp nike dunk low ers. A year later I stand by that sentiment, but I dont have to stand in line any more. I can stop into any store and pick one up, hassle-free, for $300. Anyone can. Which is wonderful, because despite the systems vocal gamer fans, the Nintendo Switch is the console thats actually best for everyone else. Thats not shocking given Nintendos pedigree. Its gotten very good at making systems with universal appeal. My best friend, who has never heard of Uncharted, still speaks fondly of Mario Kart on the SNES, and even my mom has gone a few rounds in Wii Tennis. But the Switch is exceptional because it balances its appeal for newcomers and nerds so handily. A gadget nerd like me might find a lot of faults with the Switch. If The Maze Runner: The Death Cure was a standalone movie, devoid of mythology and history, it would be pretty damn good. The set pieces are epic, the performances emotional, and the triumphs exciting. In a way, it feels like a post-apocalyptic spin on Oceans 11. However, The Death Cure isnt just that. Its the final film in an established trilogy, and on that level, it doesnt perform nearly as well. The film picks up a few months after the end of the second film, The Scorch Trials, with our heroes, led by Thomas Dylan OBrien , attempting to break their kidnapped friend Minho Ki Hong Lee out of a moving train. The rescue necessitates several people pulling off very specific roles with absolute precision. Its an awesome scene, almost straight out of Fast Five, featuring dune buggies, planes, daring leaps, and lots of bullets. Director Wes Ball uses it to set the tone for adidas samba whats to come: A lot of big, boisterous set pieces with nods to Speed, Oceans 13, Mad Max, Jurassic Park and more. The world is fascinated with a newly discovered photo that claims to show Amelia Earhart being held by the Japanese in 1937. Thats supposed to be her in the photo above with her back to the camera. The only problem is that experts at the US National Archives arent so sure about key assertions made in some of this weeks sensationalistic headlines. The History Channel plans to air its documentary, Amelia Earhart: The Lost Evidence, about the photo this Sunday, and youve no doubt seen the breathless coverage already. The central claim is that when Earhart disappeared in 1937 she actually survived a crash and was captured by the Japanese in the Marshall Islands. The claim hinges on the fact that this photo from the National Archives was taken in 1937. Recently the retro-future-ish corners of the internet have been passing around this 19th century illustration of a virtual reality headset. A new report from Michigan State University is praising Chinas efforts to roll back decades of deforestation and habitat destruction, noting that there are major implications for global climate change and local biodiversity. During Chinas Great Leap Forward of the 1950s, governmental officials pushed the country to quickly industrialize. To literally help fuel the revolution, vast swa adidas originals hombre ths of Chinas forests were chopped down, with devastating and long-lasting environmental consequences. Deforestation has been linked to some of the issues that China has been experiencing, such as the levels of smog and pollution that cities such as Beijing see each year. The MSU study is the first independent report to confirm that Chinas steps to mitigate the problem are now working. Those steps have included bans on logging in certain areas skechers sicherheitsschuhe , and crackdowns on illegal logging operations. In a surprise televised address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Indias first successful test of an anti-satellite weapon, which the government used to destroy its own satellite. Modi said the test signifies India as a space power, but critics claim its a regrettable and reckless step toward the ongoing weaponization of space. Our scientists shot down a live satellite 300 kilometers <>85 miles] away in space, in low-earth orbit, declared Modi in his address, as relayed by Reuters. India has made an unprecedented achievement today. India registered its name as a space power. Uber now has to pay an adidas campus 00 unspecified millions of dollars over allegations it was milking every cent it could from disabled riders who dared take an extra minute or two longer to get inside a car. The U.S. Department of Justice said late Monday theyre inking a multi-million dollar settlement聽with Uber over a 2021 lawsuit alleging the company was charging people with physical disabil yeezy slide ities wait time fees for the extra time it took them to enter a vehicle. The agreement will give several million dollars in c af1 ompensation to over 65,000 Uber users the department said were charged the discriminatory fees. The supposed wait times started to rack up only two minutes after a ride came to pick up users. The original complaintalleged more than 1,000 people with disabilities had complained of the wait time fees. The DOJs suit also included stories of some disabled users, including one with quadriplegia who needed the assistance of a nurse to pack up their wheelchair. The passenger found out she had been charged a fee every time they got in a car. These complaints had been been going on for years, according to the DOJ, as the company launched the extra fees in 2016 in select cities before making the fee more widespread.
