Consider the water flea. They dont seem like the flashiest animals, but it turns out they can grow helmets and spines to beat their enemies, and can even customize the defenses based on which predator theyre fighting. Linda Weiss, a professor at Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany, is leading research on how water fleas, or Daphnia lumholtzi, developed this ability, and presented it at the most recent meeting of the Society for Experimental Biology. Apparently, the fleas have the abili reebok sneaker ty to detect the unique chemical traces left in their environment adidas originals hamburg by predators such as phantom midge larvae and fish. For example, many freshwater fish can only salomon gtx eat small prey so the water fleas who detect freshwater fish will grow head and tail spines to make themselves larger and harder to eat. The Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee will require all attendees to either provide proof theyve been vaccinated against covid-19 or show a recent negative test for coronavirus in order to enter, according to a new notice on the festivals website. The four-day festival starts September 2 and features acts like the Foo Fighters, Run t nike dunk he Jewels, Lizzo, Tame Impala, and Megan adidas samba damen Thee Stallion, among a host of others. Bonnaroo strongly encourages vaccination. The last day to receive the second shot of Moderna or Pfizer, or a single dose of Johnson and Johnson is Thursday, August 19, the organizers wrote. For patrons who are not fully vaccinated, a negative COVID-19 test result must be obtained within 72 hours 3 days of first entering Centeroo. NASAs Curiosity Rover is currently drilling holes on the lower slopes of Mount Sharp in a region called the Stimson Unit. It recently took a break from its duties to take some long-range photos of a hilly region that the rover will explore in the coming months and years. That long rid adidas campus shoes ge in the foreground is located about 2 miles 3 km from the rover and is filled with an iron oxide called hematite. Beyond that lies a hilly plain rich in clay minerals. Further still are a number of rounded buttes, all high in sulfate minerals. All these features suggest extensive interactions with running water billions of years ago. NASA intends on sending Curiosity to these regions in the near future. The only thing more stunning than these images is the thought that Curiosity will be driving through those lower hills one day, noted Curiosity Project Scientist Ashwin Vasavada in a release. At just $500 the Bebop is one of the more affordable ways nike air max to try your hand at drone photography, thanks to a 14-megapixel, full HD camera already onboard. So Parrot is introducing the new Flight Plan mode, available as a $20 unlockable feature in the FreeFlight 3 piloting app, that does all of the hard flying work for you. The pilot simply uses a map in the FreeFlight 3 app to first select a departure point, and then additional waypoints to create a route for the drone to autonomously fly. In between those points the pilot can also make changes to the Bebop drones speed, altitude, and direction its pointing to ensure it always has an ideal camera angle. Accuracy is promised to be within about six feet of each waypoint, and the user is able to save, reload, and even edit routes in the app later on. At any point during a flight the pilot can also take over manual control of the drone to help keep it out of trouble, or to temporarily divert its flight route. In our review of the Parrot Bebop drone we found that relying on the FreeFlight 3 app to actually pilot the craft was the biggest, almost
