We and others have lots to say about the new movie Passengers, and with good reason. Its an incredibly weird movie, especially considering what you might exp air force one ect from the trailers. But from a purely science fiction design standpoint, its undeniably beautiful, and the director told us one of its little secrets. The entire film is set on a ship called the Aurora, which is traveling 120 years into space so that 5,000 passengers can repopulate a new planet. Basically, the ship is a character unto itself, and that made its design cruci air force 1 al. It was great fun to build the ship, director Morten Tyldum told io9. In February of 1991, the court sentenced 23-year-old Timothy Bridges to life in prison for the crime. The conviction was largely based on statements from police informants later revealed to have been bribed for their testimony and expert forensic testimony. By merely examining the two hairs under a microscope and comparing their characteristics with hairs from Bridges, the FBI-trained analyst concluded the hairs all came from the same person. At trial, the analyst claimed there was a one in 1,000 chance that another Caucasian person could have the same head hair. That was a totally invented number, Christopher Fabricant, director of strategic litigation at the Innocence Project and co-counsel for Bridges case, told Gizmodo. Few people are more plugged into the pop culture zeitgeist than Andy Serkis. Decades after becoming the poster child for performance capture, the multi-hyphenate creator is about to release his third feature film as a director, Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Over the years hes also helped shape some of the biggest franchises in the world: Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes, Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and more. Hell even appear in the next Batman film, as Alfred. Which is a long way of saying, even if youre talking to him about Venom, its hard not to mention a few other things. The Marvel/Sony superhero sequel, Let There Be Carnage opens October 1 and well have more on that next week. But when io9 recently spoke to Serkis over video, we talked about a lot more you all might find interesting. In Star Wars, Serkis played Supreme Leader Snoke鈥攁 mysterious figure who caused a ton of speculation in The Force Awakens and really began to blossom in the next film, The Last Jedi. Of course, that was before he was shockingly murdered by his apprentice, Kylo Ren Adam Driver . Later, it was revealed the mysterious Snoke was a clone of Emperor Palpatine, nothing but a cog in a larger plan to bring the galaxys big bad back.
