big error oops I think the intent is that vessels CAN'T navigate around them like they are in a pocket of slough on the river. I've piloted pleasure craft down the rivers and have had to stop for the night in a little creek where I anchored bow and stern to a tree. Used an anchor light then. Tricky question. If anyone has another answer please comment. |

I went to the Pilot Rules https://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=33CFR88 I think the intent is that vessels can navigate around them like they are in a pocket of slough on the river. I've piloted pleasure craft down the rivers and have had to stop for the night in a little creek where I anchored bow and stern to a tree. Used an anchor light then. Tricky question.
