INTERNATIONAL ONLY A partially submerged object towed by a vessel, during the day, must display which of the following shapes? | |
A) a black ball only when the length of the tow exceeds 200 meters in length | |
B) a black ball | |
C) a diamond shape when the length of the tow exceeds 200 meters in length | |
D) a diamond shape when the length of the tow is 200 meters or less |

Rule 24(g)(iv) states: "...if the length of the tow exceeds 200 meters an additional diamond shape where it can best be seen..." Answer should be B, not D. |

This rule is only referencing International waters. When that is the case, a partially submerged object must show a diamond shape at all times; when the length of tow exceeds 200 meters, a second dayshape is added, for a total of two diamonds. The answer is indeed D. | |

tricky question: Rule 24(g)(iv) requires diamond shape at the end, PLUS another diamond forward if greater than 200m tow. Emily rocks! | |
