BOTH INTERNATIONAL & INLAND You are under sail making 5 knots. The apparent wind is broad on the port beam at 10 knots. You see another sailing vessel dead ahead on a meeting course. What action is correct? |

B) Only the other vessel must maneuver to avoid collision. |
C) Both vessels must maneuver to avoid collision. |
D) You are only required to maneuver if collision cannot be avoided by maneuver of the other vessel. |

If the wind is broad (a "broad reach") and the other vessel is coming at you, then they are on a tack opposite to yours. If the wind is on your port side, then the other is on a starboard tack and has ROW. |
