| At what point does a damaged panel actually need repainting instead of polishing or spot repair? I noticed some fading and small scratches on my hood from sun exposure and washing over time. I’d prefer not to repaint the whole panel if there’s a simpler solution that can restore the shine. | |

| Sometimes paint correction or polishing can restore the surface if the damage is only in the clear coat. But if the color layer is faded or worn down, polishing won’t fix it completely. I’ve seen cases where the hood looked better after polishing but still had visible patches. | |

| Repainting usually becomes necessary when the color layer is damaged, faded unevenly, or when scratches go beyond the clear coat. Polishing can restore gloss but it can’t replace missing paint.
