| With the latest operation ending soon, I am thinking about investing my remaining balance into some of the new collection skins like the Control or Havoc sets. Historically, do these skins usually go up in value once they can no longer be dropped, or does the market usually crash after the hype dies down? I am looking for long-term growth and I want to know if I should focus on lower-tier pinks for trade-ups or go straight for one high-tier red skin. | |

| Operation skins are generally a good "discontinued" investment because they don't drop in the normal pool after the event. However, you have to be patient because thousands of people are usually thinking the same thing, leading to a massive supply on the market right after the operation ends. The real price movement usually starts a year or two later when the supply gets eaten up by trade-up contracts. Trade-up "fillers" are also a great low-risk investment if you know which collections are popular for people chasing the top-tier items. | |

| Success in skin investing comes down to knowing the rarity tiers and the total supply of specific collections. I spent a lot of time analyzing the historical price trends of previous operations at https://dmarket.com/cs2-wiki/ to see which weapon types tend to hold their value the best over time. Their detailed list of every skin in the new collections made it easy for me to see which items are the most "efficient" for trade-up food. I decided to diversify my portfolio with a mix of industrial grades and one high-tier covert item based on the rarity data I found there. Remember to stay updated on game patches, as changes to weapon stats can suddenly make a forgotten skin very popular overnight. | |
