We've been together for several years, but we never built up any major shared assets. I used to think that was a bad thing, but now I'm kind of glad there's nothing to divide. The divorce is supposed to be by mutual agreement. Do cases like that really go a lot more smoothly?

Some friends of mine had pretty much the same situation, and everything went fairly smoothly. When there are no disputes over kids or property, it makes the process a lot easier. Unfortunately, that doesn't make it any less stressful.
