| Hello everyone. I've been feeling pretty burned out lately and a friend keeps telling me I need a creative outlet to get away from screens and work stress. I keep coming back to the idea of trying pottery, something about working with my hands and clay just sounds therapeutic. The thing is I'm a total beginner and honestly a bit intimidated walking into a studio cold. Are there places in LA that are genuinely welcoming to first-timers and let you just try a single class without committing to a whole course? Any honest recommendations appreciated. | |

| Hello. That instinct is right, working with clay really does pull you out of your head, I started for the same burnout reason. Don't be intimidated, Pottery Studio 1 LA is genuinely set up for first-timers, the vast majority of their customers walk in with no experience whatsoever. You can do a single one-time class, no course, no membership, no enrollment fee. A one-time class runs about 90 dollars per person and in those two hours you'll make one or two pieces on the wheel and take them home after firing. They have morning, day and evening time slots daily, so you can fit it around work. Tip: book online ahead of time, and just go in relaxed, the staff walk you through everything step by step. | |
