INLAND ONLY Two power-driven vessels are crossing within a half a mile of each other as shown in illustration D042RR below. Vessel "A" sounds one short blast on the whistle. What should Vessel "B" sound? | |

why would A making any sound, and why would B reply back with one short blast? I would answer with the danger signal bc something doesnt seem right | |

The only thing that makes even close sense to the answer is that the give way vessel A is going to turn signal one short blast to indicate that turning starboard will give the vessel A the chance to avoid collision and go behind B vessel which is the stand on vessel. Colreg rule 15. I would not have chosen "none of the above" if given that as a choice. The reason is they are going 2 different directions thus crossing and given one blast indicates that vessel A will go on the starboard side of vessel B. I would turn starboard to go behind vessel B but would not have the end goal on going on the starboard side of vessel B. Poorly written question. |
